The Birth of Octo Gaming & Degenerate Ape Academy’s Epic Collaboration
It all started with a message on Telegram from our investor Moonrock Capital. They introduced us to Degenerate Ape Academy, a NFT collection that was looking for a partner to help bring their collection to the next level. Our goal was to show them the added value that Octo Gaming could bring to their NFT collection and reach potentially 3 million gamers, creating a beautiful game for their & our community, while bringing more utility to their NFTs in the future.
After several conversations on Telegram, we finally had the opportunity to meet the team behind Degenerate Ape Academy. They were impressed with Octo’s potential to bring their NFT collection to the masses, and we were equally impressed with their vision for their NFTs. It was a match made in heaven.
Start off
The first challenge was to come up with a concept for the game. We decided to create a runner-style game with a tropical game design that incorporated 2D and 3D elements. We worked together to develop a game design that would perfectly fit the Degenerate Ape Academy universe, and the result was a beautiful and exciting game that was sure to captivate audiences.
The production process was a thrilling experience, with both teams working tirelessly to bring the game to life. Despite the time difference between France and New Zealand, we were able to have calls and keep each other up to date on the progress of the game. We were amazed by their sense of humor, and they made us laugh with their chosen question from the academy’s professor, “69 / 420” (real degens knows).
Release of the game
Finally, the day of the game launch arrived, and the excitement was palpable. The Degenerate Ape Academy team was ecstatic to see the results of all our hard work, and the Octo Gaming team was equally thrilled. As soon as the game was released, players began to flood in and try their luck at running through the tropical landscape and collecting as many bananas & toilet paper as possible.
